Justice League’s Jason Momoa Rocks a Guitar as Aquaman

Zack Snyder recently shared a previously unseen photo of Jason Momoa’s Aquaman. The sea-based superhero debuted in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in a cameo role. He later reappeared in 2017’s Justice League and its director’s cut, where he played a major part in stopping Steppenwolf’s invasion. Following this, the character starred in his solo adventures, Aquaman and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and also appeared briefly in Peacemaker and The Flash.

The veteran filmmaker recently posted two photos on social media. One of the photos shared shows Jason Momoa in his Aquaman attire on the set of Justice League. He holds a guitar while maintaining a composed yet somewhat gruff facial expression.

Meanwhile, the other photo shows Ezra Miller, wearing his Flash costume. He stands near and looks at an enlarged picture of Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn. “2 more from 2016,” Zack Snyder captioned the Instagram post.

Out of the six main cast members who appeared in Justice League and Snyder’s cut of the film, Momoa is the only one who has a bright future ahead of him in DC films. He has been cast in James Gunn’s DC Universe as the Czarnian mercenary and bounty hunter, Lobo.

Momoa’s Lobo will debut in Supergirl, premiering in theaters on June 26, 2026. In the film, Lobo will serve as one of the major antagonists alongside Matthias Schoenaerts’ Krem of the Yellow Hills.

Before his casting as Lobo, Jason Momoa expressed a strong desire to take on the role several times previously. His interest in the role was so strong to the point that he admitted in a Fandango interview while promoting Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom that he initially thought he would be playing Lobo in the DC Extended Universe before being cast as Aquaman.

Moreover, in a recent interview, Momoa revealed he “wanted to play [Lobo] more than Aquaman,” calling the role the “ultimate dream.”

As of writing, it’s unclear where Jason Momoa’s Lobo will show up in the DCU following his appearance in Supergirl. However, based on his fascination with the character and Gunn’s admiration of the portrayal, as mentioned in the latter’s Instagram post, there is a possibility for a solo project later down the line.
