In an interview with ScreenTime, Chris Pratt discussed what Star-Lord has been doing since Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. He said, “Probably denying the fact that he was responsible for the death of Iron Man, while simultaneously trying to convince people that he was a superhero at some point.” Pratt also noted that Peter Quill is likely “catching up on the music. From ’70s pop all the way until he came back, there’s a lot of music to catch up on.”
The ending of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 shows Peter Quill returning to Earth and reuniting with his grandfather. The film concludes with a post-credits scene of them eating breakfast, ending on the message: “The legendary Star-Lord will return.” Commenting on this, Pratt said, “We made a promise with Guardians of the Galaxy that Star-Lord would return – I think I’d really like to make good on that promise.”
When asked what a standalone Star-Lord movie might involve, Pratt joked about a music-driven premise, calling it the “Star-Lord Assemble Music Mission.” He suggested it would feature ideas thrown around creatively, saying, “We’ll get you in the writing room… throw every idea against the wall.”
On the topic of future Marvel roles, Pratt expressed interest in portraying the Punisher. “He was my favorite comic book hero growing up, so I’ve always loved Punisher,” he said. Although Jon Bernthal currently plays the character in the MCU, Pratt specified his interest in a particular version: “Maybe Punisher 2099.”
Punisher 2099 debuted in 1993. It follows Jacob Gallows, a Public Eye Police Force member who becomes the Punisher in a dystopian cyberpunk future. The character adopts the mantle after discovering the original Punisher’s war journal and dedicating himself to continuing the mission.
