Robert Pattinson’s Secret Marty Supreme Role Revealed
Robert Pattinson had a brief and secret role in the recently released Timothée Chalamet hit Marty Supreme, according to director Josh Safdie.
What was Robert Pattinson’s secret role in Marty Supreme?
During a recent conversation at London’s BFI Southbank (via Variety), Safdie revealed that Pattinson actually has a secret role in the film, and it’s a small one. “No one knows this, but that voice — the commentator, the umpire — is Pattinson,” Safdie said. “It’s like a little easter egg. Nobody knows about that.…He came and watched some stuff and I was like, ‘I don’t know any British people.’ So he’s the umpire.”
Specifically, Pattinson can be heard during the British Open semifinals scenes in the beginning of the movie, when Marty Mauser plays against Hungarian champion Bela Kletzki (Géza Röhrig). Pattinson and Chalamet have worked together in a more extensive role in 2019’s The King, when Chalamet played the Prince of Wales and later King Henry V of England, and Pattinson played Louis, Duke of Guyenne.
Marty Supreme is directed by Uncut Gems co-director Josh Safdie, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Ronald Bronstein. The film stars Chalamet, Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, Kevin O’Leary, Tyler Okonma, Abel Ferrara, Fran Drescher, Sandra Bernhard, Spenser Granese, Philippe Petit, Luke Manley, and more.
Following its release, the film has received universal praise, with Chalamet already earning multiple best acting awards for his role.
