Star Wars Sets 1st Meeting Between Darth Vader & Kylo Ren

Kylo Ren will finally meet Darth Vader, seven years after the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. All three movies in the sequel trilogy underscore Kylo Ren / Ben Solo’s obsession with his grandfather, making this an eagerly-awaited encounter for Star Wars fans.

Darth Vader and Kyle Ren to meet in upcoming Star Wars comic-book issue

The upcoming final issue of Marvel Comics’ canonical Legacy of Vader series by Charles Soule and Luke Ross teases a meeting between Vader and Kylo Ren. Set between The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker, Legacy of Vader revolves around First Order Supreme Leader Kylo Ren. The first issue debuted on February 5, 2025.

11 issues of the comic book series have come out to date. The upcoming 12th issue will also serve as the final chapter, wrapping the story. The preview pages for the issue indicate a face-off between the legendary antagonist and his grandson. Kylo Ren might even get the chance to communicate with Vader directly, exceeding anything he has managed through the latter’s burned mask.

However, the Darth Vader that Kylo encounters may be someone else entirely. During the timeline of the sequel trilogy, Anakin Skywalker has found redemption. He is dead and has turned into a Force Ghost. This means that the encounter can be something that Palpatine has orchestrated. After all, he did tell Ben Solo that all voices inside the young man’s mind were his.

The Original Star Wars trilogy came out in the late ’70s and early ’80s and became a cultural phenomenon. Vader was the secondary antagonist in these movies and underwent a major redemption arc. The prequel trilogy, which debuted in the late ’90s and early 2000s, chronicled Anakin’s fall to the Dark Side. The sequel trilogy takes place years after the original trilogy and notes that evil never goes away. Adam Driver portrays Kylo Ren in these films.

Star Wars: Legacy of Vader #12 comes out on January 14, 2026.
