The Mummy 4 Gets Good & Bad News From Brendan Fraser

Brendan Fraser recently shared an update on his upcoming movie, The Mummy 4. The much-awaited sequel will be a follow-up to his popular Mummy movies, which began with 1999’s The Mummy. Currently, Universal has not provided any update regarding the release date window for the new film.

Brendan Fraser on the current status of The Mummy 4

Brendan Fraser recently sat down for a chat with Radio Times in which he talked about the current status of The Mummy 4.

While the actor didn’t reveal much, he stated, “My lips are sealed! I’m hopeful to have good news soon because I know how popular the films were. People say, ‘I grew up watching that movie, and now I’ve got kids…’ Let’s all keep our fingers crossed and light a candle.”

Fraser played the role of Rick O’Connell in The Mummy and its sequels. When asked about his thoughts on returning as the iconic character, Fraser said, “Would I like to? Absolutely. I’ve always said I like the idea, and I always will. It’s just… Well, it’s not up to me to pull that trigger!”

In November 2025, Fraser first talked about The Mummy 4 in an interview with the Associated Press. The actor referred to the fourth installment in the series and also lauded the third Mummy movie, saying, “The one I wanted to make was never made. I’m proud of the third one because I think it’s a good standalone movie. We picked up and did what we do with a different crew on deck, and gave it our best shot. But the one I wanted to make is forthcoming. And I’ve been waiting 20 years for this call. Sometimes it was loud, sometimes it was a faint telegraph. Now? It’s time to give the fans what they want.”
