Kevin Smith Confirms New Jay & Silent Bob Movie, Gives Plot Update

Kevin Smith‘s fan-favorite characters, Jay and Silent Bob, will be getting another new movie of their own. Smith, who plays Silent Bob in his View Askewniverse projects, confirmed in a recent interview that he is currently working on a brand new feature, which will center around the two goofy friends from New Jersey. The director then revealed the official title of the upcoming Jay and Silent Bob movie, while also disclosing its basic storyline.

While promoting the re-release of his 1999 comedy Dogma, Kevin Smith announced that he is currently working on a third Jay and Silent Bob movie, titled Jay and Silent Bob: Store Wars.

“Believe it or not, man, we still find financing for Jay and Silent Bob pictures, so we’re making a movie called Jay and Silent Bob: Store Wars,” the Clerks director told Collider‘s Steve Weintraub.

He then shed light on what the new Jay and Silent Bob movie will be about, noting, “For those who recall and still follow this closely, in Clerks III, they now run their own dispensary, since weed is legal in New Jersey. Store Wars is basically Spy vs. Spy. Another dispensary opens up across the street, and they spend the whole movie fighting and trying to destroy one another. So, it’s a stoner comedy, man, of the highest order, and I’m happy as hell.”

However, Smith remains unsure when fans will be able to watch the new Jay and Silent Bob movie. “We’re still putting it together,” he said about the project before adding, “We’re in the casting stages right now. So, the other two characters are much younger than us, and basically are our opposites in almost every way. So, that’s where we are.”

Nevertheless, he stressed his enthusiasm for the project that revolves around the two quirky characters. “I’m here for it, man. I can’t wait to go back. Jason’s ready. He knows how to play that character in his sleep, so if he’s awake, it’s going to be a great movie,” Smith added.
