Jackass 5: Bam Margera Will Appear in Movie But Not How You Want

Bam Margera’s role in Jackass 5 has received an update.

Jackass co-creator and star Johnny Knoxville recently announced that Jackass 5 is in the works. Knoxville has promised that more details will be shared soon, but it is known that the movie will be released in theaters this coming summer.

“Well a wang dang and hot damn doodle, we are starting the year off with a bang,” Knoxville wrote. “We wanted to let you know that this summer Jackass is back!! We will see you in theatres June 26th. More to come but wanted you to hear it from us first!!”

What is the update on Jackass 5?

Per Variety, Bam Margera has signed a deal to appear in never-before-seen archival footage in Jackass 5; however, he won’t be filming any new stunts for the movie.

The article notes, “The deal marks an armistice between Johnny Knoxville’s Jackass team and Margera, an original cast member who was booted from 2022’s Jackass Forever after allegedly violating the terms of a ‘wellness agreement,’ which required regular drug and alcohol tests. In a lawsuit that was later dropped, Margera claimed he was coerced into signing the agreement while he was in rehab in 2019, and that he was fired from Jackass after testing positive for Adderall, which he said he had taken by prescription for a decade.

“In recent years, Margera suffered from various health issues and went in and out of rehab for substance abuse. Knoxville told Variety in 2022 that he hadn’t spoken to Margera in more than a year, saying ‘I love Bam’ and ‘I want him to get well and stay well.’ He left the door open to Margera’s return to the franchise, saying, ‘I only want him to get better. That’s the first step. He has to take that step and maintain that step.’”

Jackass 5 arrives on June 26, 2026.
