Jackass 5 Release Date Announced by Johnny Knoxville
Jackass co-creator and star Johnny Knoxville recently announced the release date of the newest installment in the franchise, Jackass 5, on social media. The announcement comes roughly three years after the fourth movie, Jackass Forever, hit theaters. The franchise started on a small scale via a three-season MTV reality series in 2000. However, it expanded in scope in subsequent years, spawning multiple films, spin-offs, a video game, and merchandise.
Jackass 5 to premiere in summer this year
Johnny Knoxville took to Instagram to announce a new Jackass movie hitting theaters this summer. However, he didn’t specify if this film, which has a release date of June 26, 2026, was Jackass 5 or a re-release of a past film, promising he would share more details soon.
“Well a wang dang and hot damn doodle, we are starting the year off with a bang,” Knoxville captioned the post. “We wanted to let you know that this summer Jackass is back!! We will see you in theatres June 26th. More to come but wanted you to hear it from us first!!”
The upcoming film will be produced by Paramount Pictures, which distributed previous Jackass films.
As of writing, cast details, aside from Knoxville’s involvement, are unknown. However, the return of one of the franchise actors, Bam Margera, who was removed from Jackass Forever’s production after reportedly violating a contract related to his substance abuse, is unlikely. Margera told CinemaBlend last year, “You couldn’t offer me enough money to want to do another Jackass with them.”
Four years earlier, Knoxville shared in a GQ interview that the fourth film, Jackass Forever, would be “his last contribution to the franchise.” During the discussion, the Men in Black II actor marveled at the “absurdity” of putting his body through intense stuntwork. “You can only take so many chances before something irreversible happens,” he shared. “I feel like I’ve been extremely lucky to take the chances I’ve taken and still be walking around.”
Following the interview, speculation and reports surfaced, suggesting that Jackass Forever would be the last film in the franchise. However, Knoxville cleared the air in a Variety interview. He clarified that he and others involved with the franchise “never said it was the last one.”
The 54-year-old added that the Jackass franchise could continue, but wasn’t certain about doing so. However, he suggested future installments could revolve around the young cast while he and other franchise veterans could “come in and have fun.” He added, “After [the first two films], we’re like ‘Never,'”. He further continued, “And then there we made a third one, and now we make a fourth one. So, we’re never saying never.”
