Tangled Fans Erupt Over Live-Action Rapunzel & Flynn Casting

Disney’s newly announced casting for the live-action Tangled has sparked widespread discussion among fans. Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim stepping into the roles of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider has quickly become one of the most talked-about moments in the lead-up to the remake.

Tangled’s live-action casting reactions are highly positive

On January 7, 2026, Disney officially cast Milo Manheim and Teagan Croft as Flynn Rider and Rapunzel in the live-action remake of the 2010 animated film Tangled.

Manheim, known for the Zombies franchise and Little Shop of Horrors, said, “I have seen the light.” Croft, who starred as Raven in Titans and Jessica Watson in True Spirit, commented on Disney’s casting post, “OMGGG WHO ARE THEYYYY.”

Michael Gracey, who directed The Greatest Showman, will direct the project. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, known for Do Revenge and Thor: Love and Thunder, wrote the script. Kristin Burr, who produced Cruella and Freakier Friday, will produce the film. Lucy Kitada serves as executive producer.

The original Tangled grossed $591 million globally, with Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi voicing the lead roles. Croft and Manheim take over these roles after a months-long casting process that included screen tests in London. Disney marked the casting search by launching lanterns in the U.S. and the U.K.

Manheim previously starred in Journey to Bethlehem and School Spirits, and he is the son of actress Camryn Manheim. Croft began her career in Australian productions before transitioning to U.S. projects, including Home and Away and The Osiris Child.

Fan reactions on social media have been widely positive. One user responded, “This casting is chef’s kiss! Teagan’s got that ethereal Rapunzel glow, and Milo nails the smolder.” Another wrote, “Good choices for live action,” while others simply said, “TEAGAN OMG???” and “I like them for that part!”

There is no confirmed release date for the film. Scarlett Johansson was previously rumored for the role of Mother Gothel, but casting for that character remains unannounced.
