New Madea Movie From Tyler Perry Sets Netflix Release Date
Netflix has officially announced the release date for Tyler Perry‘s latest entry in the world of Madea, revealing when Tyler Perry’s Joe’s College Road Trip is set to release.
When does Tyler Perry’s next Madea movie release?
The next movie, titled Joe’s College Road Trip, is set to release on February 13, 2026. The film will follow the story of Joe Simmons (Perry), Madea‘s brother, who takes his son B.J. (Jermaine Harris) on a cross-country road trip to college, “where tensions get high but life-changing lessons are learned,” according to the film’s synopsis.
Perry will star in the movie in three separate roles, including reprising his role as Madea. Alongside Perry, Joe’s College Road Trip also stars Jermaine Harris, Amber Reign Smith, Bethany Anne Lind, Jeremy Gimenez, Millie Jackson, Wil Deusner, Ms. Pat, and Nickolas Wolf. While the movie is technically a part of the Madea franchise, the movie will be the first to be focused on Joe, Madea’s brother.
As far as the Madea franchise goes, the franchise stretches across 13 previous movies dating back to 2005. The character of Madea has also appeared in a number of plays that would eventually become movies by Perry, with the character first appearing in a 1999 play version of I Can Do Bad All by Myself.
Prior to Joe’s College Road Trip, Perry had a busy 2025, releasing four different movies, including a new entry in the Madea franchise, Madea’s Destination Wedding. His final feature of 2025, Finding Joy, released in November on Prime Video. This year, Perry also has two other movies set to release at some point on Netflix, including Tyler Perry’s The Gospel of Christmas, and Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Again?
