Romantic Comedy Based on Popular Books Set To Leave Netflix Soon
Netflix subscribers will soon lose the chance to catch one of the most memorable romantic comedies of the 2000s. Directed by P. J. Hogan from a script by Tim Firth, Tracey Jackson, and Kayla Alpert, Confessions of a Shopaholic is an adaptation of the first two books in Sophie Kinsella’s Shopaholic book series (Confessions of a Shopaholic and Shopaholic Takes Manhattan). Although the movie garnered negative reviews from the critics, it became considerably successful at the box office.
Confessions of a Shopaholic leaves Netflix this month
Confessions of a Shopaholic leaves Netflix on January 16, 2026, as per Tudum. Some of the other movies leaving the platform this month are Donnie Darko (2001) and The Maze Runner (2014).
Jerry Bruckheimer produced Confessions of a Shopaholic, which debuted in US theaters in February 2009. Its stellar cast includes Isla Fisher as Rebecca Bloomwood, Hugh Dancy as Luke Brandon, Joan Cusack as Jane Bloomwood, John Goodman as Graham Bloomwood, Kristin Scott Thomas as Alette Naylor, Leslie Bibb as Alicia Billington, Fred Armisen as Ryan Koenig, Julie Hagerty as Hayley, Krysten Ritter as Suze Cleath-Stuart, and Robert Stanton as Derek Smeath.
The plot of the movie revolves around Rebecca, a journalist, who develops feelings for her boss, Luke, as she navigates her shopaholic tendencies. As mentioned above, the movie performed poorly with the critics. It currently has a 26% approval rating on the review-aggregating site Rotten Tomatoes. However, it did better with the general audience and made over $108 million globally (via Box Office Mojo).
After Confessions of a Shopaholic, Dancy went on to headline several prominent projects. He played Will Graham on the NBC psychological horror-thriller series Hannibal. Dancy is currently essaying the role of EADA Nolan Price on the NBC police procedural and legal drama series Law & Order. Meanwhile, Fisher has portrayed various memorable characters in the Now You See Me movies and Peacock fantasy comedy drama series Wolf Like Me.
