James Bond: Oasis Addresses Rumors About New Theme Song
Will Oasis write the new theme song for the next James Bond movie? Noel Gallagher has addressed the Bond rumors.
What did Oasis say about writing the James Bond theme song?
In December, The Sun reported that Amazon MGM Studios has Oasis at the “top of its wishlist” to create the title theme song for James Bond 26. After The Sun’s story went live, an X user asked Oasis’ Liam Gallagher if there was any truth to the story.
“It’s happening, you wait till you hear it, it’s the best Bond tune ever,” Liam wrote on X.
During a recent appearance on talkSPORT Drive, host Andy Goldstein asked Noel about his interest in writing the next Bond theme song.
“Of course, it would be an absolute honor,” Noel said. “I think those kinds of things should be done by Brits and not Yanks.”
Noel later clarified that Amazon has not approached him for Bond 26. However, he joked that he would love to play a villain in the movie.
Noel has been open about his willingness to contribute a song to the Bond franchise. In 2008, Noel told NME about his “Bond-esque” songs that could be used in future Bond movies.
“I’ve written a couple of theme tunes,” Noel explained. “They haven’t got very Bond-esque titles, so I would have to tailor the title accordingly. The latest one that I wrote, I listened back to it thinking, ‘F—ing hell, man! That’d make a f—ing great Bond theme.'”
The last three artists to write the Bond theme songs have been Adele for Skyfall, Sam Smith for Spectre, and Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell for No Time to Die. All three tunes won the Oscar for Best Original Song.
Bond 26 will be the first movie in the franchise exclusively controlled by Amazon MGM Studios. Denis Villeneuve will direct from a script by Steven Knight. Amy Pascal and David Heyman will produce. No actor has been cast to play James Bond.
