George Clooney’s Acclaimed Broadway Play Out on Netflix Today

The live stage recording of George Clooney‘s historical drama play has just been added to Netflix’s library.

More than a year after its Broadway debut at the Winter Garden Theatre, Clooney’s Good Night, and Good Luck: Live from Broadway play is now officially available to stream on Netflix.

What do we know about George Clooney’s acclaimed Broadway play?

“In this stage play filmed live, journalist Edward R. Murrow confronts Sen. Joseph McCarthy over the fear and propaganda shaping US politics in the 1950s,” reads the synopsis.

Good Night, and Good Luck play is based on the 2005 movie, which was written and directed by Clooney. The Academy Award-winning actor also co-wrote the Broadway adaptation with Grant Heslov. The 2025 play served as Clooney’s Broadway acting debut, which earned a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor. It was directed by David Cromer, who received an Outstanding Direction of a Play nomination at the Drama League Awards.

Besides Clooney, the ensemble cast also included Ilana Glazer as Shirley Wershba, Clark Gregg as Don Hollenbeck, Paul Gross as William F. Paley, Christopher Denham as John Aaron, Glenn Fleshler as Fred Friendly, Fran Kranz as Palmer Williams, Mac Brandt as Colonel Anderson, Carter Hudson as Joe Wershba, Will Dagger as Don Hewitt, and more. The Broadway adaptation was produced by Clooney, Grant Heslov, Deena Katz, Todd Wagner, and Jeff Skoll.

The live stage recording originally premiered on CNN and CNN International on June 7, 2025, making it the first Broadway production to be aired live on television. The creative team includes production designer Scott Pask, costume designer Brenda Abbandandolo, director of photography Chase Smith, and editor Jarret Tipiere.
