Robert Downey Jr. Shares Iron Man & Doctor Doom Art for Christmas
Robert Downey Jr. recently shared Christmas art highlighting two of his major roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Iron Man and Doctor Doom. This post comes one year ahead of his highly anticipated return to the MCU as the latter character in Avengers: Doomsday. In the upcoming film, RDJ’s Doom will go up against several heroes from across the multiverse.
Robert Downey Jr. teases Avengers: Doomsday with Christmas art post
Robert Downey Jr. shared a Christmas illustration themed after two of his MCU roles, Doctor Doom and Iron Man, on Instagram. The artwork, which has a split green and red background, shows two shiny ornaments fashioned after the masks of both characters. Notably, there is a text below the illustration that reads, “Silver & Gold.”
Downey’s post has received 683k likes as of writing. Most fans wished the actor Merry Christmas in the comments. However, some speculated that he was teasing his return as Iron Man in Avengers: Doomsday besides his portrayal of Doctor Doom. “This confirms that thy both will be in Avengers DR DOOM & IRONMAN,” one user wrote. “Hope u’re hinting at tony coming back to us,” another added. “He’s coming back as iron man also I just can’t prove it yet,” a user commented.
This post comes around a month after the Oppenheimer star shared artwork highlighting Iron Man and Doctor Doom on Thanksgiving. The illustration, which only showed Doom and Iron Man’s arms, depicted the two breaking a wishbone, said to be a symbol or gesture for good luck.
While Downey is confirmed to be playing Doctor Doom in Doomsday and is also expected to return in Avengers: Secret Wars, it’s unclear if he will be reprising Iron Man in these films.
Avengers: Doomsday will come out in theaters on December 18, 2026. Meanwhile, Secret Wars will premiere on December 17, 2027.
