Charlize Theron & Taron Egerton Star in Action Movie Apex Teaser Trailer

Netflix has shared the teaser trailer for Apex, its newest action thriller led by Academy Award winner Charlize Theron and Golden Globe winner Taron Egerton. The movie is scheduled to make its debut on April 24, 2026.

“In the film, Theron is a grieving woman seeking solace in the Australian wilderness, only to become ensnared in a deadly game with a ruthless predator. Shot in New South Wales, including the Blue Mountains, the film layers emotional depth into a high-stakes fight for survival,” reads the official synopsis.

What happens in the Apex teaser trailer?

The video highlights some of the grueling challenges that Theron’s character must face in the wilderness. It also introduces Egerton as the movie’s main antagonist, a serial killer who’s playing a dangerous and twisted game of cat and mouse with Theron. Besides Theron and Egerton, the movie will also be led by Eric Bana (Black Hawk Down, Troy)

Apex is directed by Baltasar Kormákur, with Jeremy Robbins writing the screenplay. Kormákur is best known for his work on 2012’s Contraband, 2013’s 2 Guns, 2015’s Everest, 2018’s Adrift, and 2022’s Beast. Producers are Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, and David Ready for Chernin Entertainment; Ian Bryce for Ian Bryce Productions; Charlize Theron, A.J. Dix, and Beth Kono for Secret Menu; and Kormákur for RVK Studios. It is executive-produced by Ray Angelic, Will McCance, and Dawn Olmstead for Secret Menu.

Besides Apex, Theron is also attached to star in Netflix’s culinary thriller movie Tyrant. She will also next be seen in the psychological thriller Jane from acclaimed filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón and the heist movie Two for the Money from F9 director Justin Lin. In addition, she’s also part of Christopher Nolan’s star-studded cast for The Odyssey, which will debut in 2026.
