Beloved Hallmark Christmas Movie To Get Sequel With New Cast

Hallmark has announced A Biltmore Christmas 2, the sequel to its 2023 Christmas movie, A Biltmore Christmas. The movie will take viewers back to the Biltmore Estate for a new story featuring new lead characters.

The original film, released in 2023, was directed by John Putch and scripted by Marcy Holland. Bethany Joy Lenz and Kristoffer Polaha starred in the lead roles alongside a supporting cast comprising Colton Little, A.K. Benninghofen, Annabelle Borke, and Jonathan Frakes, among others.

A Biltmore Christmas sequel sets December 2026 release date

Hallmark has announced that A Biltmore Christmas 2 will be released as part of their 2026 Countdown to Christmas lineup, which also includes Holiday Ever After: A Disney World Wish Come True, as per Variety.

The upcoming film will star Teen Wolf’s Holland Roden and Eureka’s Niall Matter in the leading roles. It’s unconfirmed if the original film’s leads, Bethany Joy Lenz and Kristoffer Polaha, are reprising their roles for the sequel. However, the sequel will share continuity with the previous film via Jonathan Frakes, who will reprise his role of Winston.

The original film revolved around Lucy Hardgrove (Bethany Joy Lenz), a contemporary screenwriter hired to script the remake of the holiday classic, His Merry Wife! While touring the Biltmore Estate’s grounds, where the classic was shot, Hardgrove accidentally knocked over an hourglass. Consequently, she was transported back in time to 1946, when His Merry Wife! was being filmed.

Production will commence next month at Biltmore Estate. Filming will also take place at Asheville’s Fine Arts Theatre and Pack’s Tavern, and downtown. Dustin Rikert, known for Holiday Touchdown: A Bills Love Story and The Christmas Quest, will helm the film. Meanwhile, Marcy Holland, who wrote the original film, will reprise writing duties, while David O. Connell will executive produce the movie.

A Biltmore Christmas 2 will feature the return of the original film’s Biltmore House’s Conservatory, Winter Garden, Tapestry Gallery, Banquet Hall, Billiard Room, and Library. Notably, the Library housed the hourglass that sent the previous film’s protagonist back in time.

The sequel will also include Biltmore’s Rooftop, Pergola, Swimming Pool, Bowling Alley, Breakfast Room, Oak Sitting Room, Main Kitchen, Music Room, and Ms. Vanderbilt’s Bedroom. In addition, the film will feature The Inn on Biltmore Estate, Biltmore Winery, and Antler Hill Village.
