Human Smuggling Movie Roads of Fire Trailer Sets Digital Release Date | Exclusive

ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive trailer for Roads of Fire, an upcoming documentary that dives into the world of migration, asylum seeking, and more. Roads of Fire is set to release on VOD platforms including Amazon, iTunes (Apple TV), and Fandango at Home, as well as on DVD on January 6, 2026.

Roads of Fire “offers an immersive, on-the-ground look into the $35 billion human-smuggling trade, tracking three intersecting storylines: a cartel smuggler crossing the Darién Gap, a family undertaking a dangerous migration route, and a young mother and asylum seeker fighting for her freedom in New York City,” reads the film’s official synopsis.

What happens in the Roads of Fire trailer?

The Roads of Fire trailer follows the story of three separate stories, diving into the world of migration via a cartel smuggler, a family attempting to relocate using a dangerous migration route, and a mother in New York City seeking asylum and trying to raise her children along the way.

Roads of Fire is directed by Nathaniel Lezra, and has already had a successful theatrical run across cities like New York, Los Angeles, and other major markets. The movie also garnered various awards along its festival run, including winning Best Documentary Feature at the 2025 Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

“With Roads of Fire, our goal was to stay alongside people whose lives are too often reduced to headlines and statistics, and to let audiences feel the stakes of every step they take,” said director Nathaniel Lezra in a statement. “This TVOD release means the stories we documented on the migration trail can reach viewers in homes and communities far beyond the festival circuit.”
