Sony Pictures has released the official trailer for The Breadwinner, the upcoming family comedy led by stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze and Golden Globe nominee Mandy Moore. The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on March 13, 2026.

“The film follows the misadventures of Nate Wilcox, whose wife Katie lands a once-in-a-lifetime deal on Shark Tank that takes her on a prolonged business trip – and now the lifelong breadwinner has to fend for his family as a first-time stay-at-home dad,” reads the official synopsis. “With three young daughters and little experience handling their day-to-day needs, Nate finds out quickly that running the household is the toughest gig he’s ever had.”

What happens in The Breadwinner trailer?

The video introduces Bargatze as Nate Wilcox, who suddenly becomes a stay-at-home dad to his three kids after his wife goes on a business trip for a massive career opportunity. However, he will soon realize how hard it is to manage a home and care for his kids alone, leading to a series of hilarious mishaps. The video highlights the challenges he’ll face as he tries to support his wife by becoming the best stay-at-home dad he needs to be.

The Breadwinner is directed by Eric Appel, with Bargatze and Dan Lagana writing the screenplay. This project also marks the comedian’s feature acting debut. The movie also stars Colin Jost, Zach Cherry, Martin Herlihy, Kate Berlant, Kumail Nanjiani, Will Forte, Stella Grace Fitzgerald, Birdie Borria, and Charlotte Ann Tucker. Executive producers are JoAnn Perritano, Michael Musgrave, and Tyler Zacharia, with Jeremy Latcham, Bargatze, and Lagana serving as producers.
