Live-Action Tangled Movie’s Rapunzel & Flynn Ryder Actors’ Shortlist Revealed

Walt Disney Pictures seems to be picking up the pace on the live-action Tangled film, reportedly holding screen tests for the roles of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. The studio will soon confirm the actors for the roles. Now, a few shortlisted actors have been revealed, giving fans a glimpse of who could ultimately land this exciting opportunity.

Who have tested for Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder in live-action Tangled movie?

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Walt Disney Pictures held screen tests in London for the roles of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider in the planned live-action Tangled film. Among the list of potential actresses, the outlet revealed that Sarah Catherine Hook, Teagan Croft, Freya Skye, and Olivia-Mai Barrett are among those who tested.

Croft is known for her role as Raven in DC’s Titans. She’s also known for portraying Jessica Watson in the 2023 film True Spirit. Meanwhile, Hook featured in the Prime Video series Cruel Intentions. She was also in The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It.

Skye appears in Disney’s Zombies 4: Dawn of the Vampires as Nova Bright. Meanwhile, Barrett previously played Penny Mendez on Disney’s Penny on M.A.R.S. Additionally, The Summer I Turned Pretty’s Lola Tung was also reportedly supposed to test. However, she couldn’t because of a scheduling conflict. Meanwhile, Milo Manheim of the Disney Zombies franchise and Charlie Gillespie, known for his role in Splitsville and Julie and the Phantoms, seem to have tested for the role of Flynn Rider.

Meanwhile, there is no information about the role of Mother Gothel. Scarlett Johansson was previously rumored for the role, though she is no longer involved. In the 2010 animated Tangled film, Mandy Moore voiced Rapunzel, while Zachary Levi took on the role of Flynn Rider. The upcoming live-action Tangled film will reportedly begin filming in June 2026, with Michael Gracey as director.
