The Russo Brothers share Avengers: Doomsday’s official countdown teaser

The Russo Brothers posted a short clip on Instagram that officially kicked off the countdown for Avengers: Doomsday’s release. “1 year…” the pair captioned the post.

The clip starts with a shot of a clapperboard containing the film’s title. The clapperboard highlights the Russos’ directorial role and mentions the film’s cinematographer, Newton Thomas Sigel. Further, the clapperboard also mentions the roll number #A12, scene number A5, and take number 2.

The footage cuts to a countdown timer that reads “12:00:00:00:00,” which translates to 12 months. The timer subsequently changes to 11:29:23:59:59 (11 months, 29 days, 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds).

This post comes three days after the Russos shared a cryptic black-and-white image on Instagram. After the image was shared without an explanation, fans came up with their own theories about it.

Many fans are currently anticipating the release of Avengers: Doomsday’s first official trailer. Initial reports about the trailer suggested that it would play in front of Avatar: Fire and Ash. However, subsequent reports suggested that not only was this the case, but that four different trailers would play in front of James Cameron’s threequel over the course of four weeks, with each week showing a new teaser.

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026. The Russo Brothers directed the film from a script by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely. The Russos also co-produced the movie with Marvel Studios via their production company, AGBO.

The film’s cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Pedro Pascal, Simu Liu, and Robert Downey Jr., among many other returning Marvel movie actors.
