Michael Bay’s Canceled Lobo Film Would’ve Made Deadpool Seem Kid-Friendly

Jason Fuchs, who most recently worked as a showrunner and writer for It: Welcome to Derry, recently opened up about DC’s previously canceled Lobo movie. He spoke about writing a script for the DC Universe antihero many years ago. Although that film never saw the light of day, fans will get to see the character in the upcoming Supergirl film.

Jason Fuchs reveals details of Michael Bay’s canceled Lobo movie

Jason Fuchs appeared as a guest on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, discussing It: Welcome to Derry spoilers and DC Films. Within these, one topic that stood to fans was Fuchs revealing how he penned down a Lobo film script many years ago.

“I’m really excited to see Lobo finally make his appearance in the Supergirl trailer,” Fuchs exclaimed. “Because I had written a Lobo script, many years ago for DC, which of all the things I’ve written that didn’t get made, I think that Lobo script was my favorite,” he revealed.

Describing what the script for the film looked like, Fuchs added, “The tone of that Lobo film was Guardians of the Galaxy if Quentin Tarantino had directed it. It was a hard R, psychotic movie, very violet.”

He continued, “It made Deadpool look like a Disney family film, which is probably why it ultimately didn’t get made.” As Fuchs once again mentioned the unfinished project to be one of his favorites, Horowitz asked him who he wanted to cast in the film. “Momoa,” Fuchs answered instantly. “Who could play that role but [Jason] Momoa? It was always in my brain, Momoa, and Michael Bay was going to direct it,” he added.

Fuchs then also mentioned a scene in the script, similar to Batman v Superman’s famous “Martha” scene. He explained how “a bad guy pleads for Lobo’s forgiveness” by saying that “he’s got a mother to think about,” revealing the name Martha.

And as this catches Lobo by surprise, he says that his mother’s name is also Martha, resulting in the “bad guy” getting “hopeful.” The actor added, “And then boom, Lobo just blows his brains out and goes, ‘What the f*** was that about?'” Fuchs shared.

Meanwhile, Supergirl will come out in June 2026, featuring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El and Jason Momoa as Lobo.
