Cause of death of Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner officially disclosed

The records of the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirm Robert and Michele Reiner’s cause of death to be from “multiple sharp force injuries.” While the manner of death reads “homicide,” the bodies are stated to be “ready for release.” Meanwhile, the couple’s son, Nick Reiner, was reportedly arrested on the same night of his parents’ death. Soon, the authorities booked him on suspicion of murder on Monday morning.

As per the Los Angeles district attorney, Nathan Hochman, the charges against Nick carry the maximum of a life sentence, or even the death penalty. At a press conference, Hochman said, “Prosecuting these cases involving family members are some of the most challenging and most heart wrenching cases that this office faces because of the intimate and often brutal nature of the crimes involved,” (via Variety).

The D.A.’s office will reportedly declare a decision on whether to pursue the death penalty at a later date. Nick is currently held at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles, without bail. He was expected to appear in court on Tuesday. However, his attorney reportedly stated that he was not “medically cleared” to attend.

Along with When Harry Met Sally, Rob Reiner also directed hit movies and shows like Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, and the 1971 CBS sitcom All in the Family, among others. Additionally, Nick co-wrote Being Charlie (2015), with his father directing, and he also discussed his struggles with addiction and homelessness back then.
