Johnny Depp Reunites With Pirates Costar, New Movie Adds Daisy Ridley & Harry Potter Star

According to the latest casting announcement for Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, three new actors have been tapped to star opposite Johnny Depp in Paramount Pictures’ upcoming film adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic 1843 novella. The movie is set to arrive in theaters on November 13, 2026.

Who is joining Johnny Depp’s Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol movie?

Per Deadline, Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), and Rupert Grint (Harry Potter franchise) have officially joined the cast of Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol, along with Arthur Conti (Beetlejuice Beetlejuice) and Ellie Bamber (Willow). The outlet’s sources suggest that Grint might be playing Bob Cratchit, Scrooge’s selfless employee. This project also marks Claflin’s reunion with Depp, more than a decade after first starring together in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Ebenezer: A Christmas Carol will be led by Johnny Depp as Scrooge, Andrea Riseborough as the Ghost of Christmas Past, Tramell Tillman as the Ghost of Christmas Present, and Ian McKellan as Jacob Marley. Ti West is directing the movie from a screenplay written by Nathaniel Halpern, with Stephen Deuters, Jason Forman, Adam Bohling, and David Reid serving as executive producers. Further details about how the movie will be different from other adaptations are still under wraps.

The original 1843 Charles Dickens novella is considered one of the most iconic stories ever written. It has been adapted multiple times throughout the years. Some of the famous adaptations include the 1970 musical adaptation Scrooge, the 1984 version with George C. Scott, the 2009 film starring Jim Carrey, and 1992’s The Muppet Christmas Carol.

Production is expected to begin in January 2026 in London.
