Jimmy Trailer: Riverdale’s KJ Apa Becomes It’s a Wonderful Life Star in New Biopic

The first trailer for Jimmy has been released.

Jimmy is an upcoming biopic movie about the life of iconic actor Jimmy Stewart. Riverdale’s KJ Apa plays the It’s a Wonderful Life star in the new movie, which is directed by Aaron Burns. It will be released in United States theaters next year by Burns & Co. Entertainment.

What happens in the Jimmy trailer?

The Jimmy trailer focuses “on the most transformative season in Jimmy Stewart’s life — from winning the Academy Award for Best Actor in The Philadelphia Story to enlisting and becoming a combat pilot in the U.S. Army Air Corps at the beginning of World War II,” per the official synopsis. “He flew twenty missions over Europe, rising to the rank of colonel by the end of the war, only to return home broken and disheartened. Then George Bailey and It’s a Wonderful Life came calling…”

In addition to Apa, the cast includes Kara Killmer, Neal McDonough, Max Casella, Jason Alexander, Christopher McDonald, Sarah Drew, Rob Riggle, Julian Works, and Jen Lilley. Additionally, Jimmy features a cameo from Karolyn Grimes, who was only 5 when she played Zuzu Bailey in It’s a Wonderful Life and is known for delivering the line, “Every time a bell rings, an angel gets his wings.”

Apa said in a statement, per Variety, “Jimmy Stewart was an American Hero. He was among a certain breed of men who understood the true meaning of sacrifice by fighting for our freedom. He was also among the greatest actors of all time starring in over 80 movies and winning one Academy Award for best actor. His story is one of strength and purpose, love and honor, fame and war. His story is one that begs us to think of the greater good and to be willing to fight for it.”

With a screenplay written by Justin Strawhand, Jimmy will be released on November 6, 2026.
