Melania Trump Movie Gets Trailer as Canceled Director Makes Return

Amazon MGM Studios has released the trailer for Melania, an upcoming documentary about First Lady Melania Trump.

“Melania offers unprecedented access to the 20 days leading up to the 2025 Presidential Inauguration — through the eyes of the First Lady herself,” the official synopsis reads. “Step inside Melania Trump’s world as she orchestrates inauguration plans, navigates the complexities of the White House transition, and moves her family back to the Nation’s Capital.”

What happens in the Melania trailer?

“Everyone wants to know, so here it is,” Trump says in the trailer. The footage portrays a behind-the-scenes look at Melania Trump as she prepares for her husband, Donald Trump, to serve as President of the United States for a second term. The one-minute trailer sees the First Lady conversing with her husband over a speech, finalizing future outfits, and traveling across the country.

“Witness history in the making. 20 days to become the first lady of the United States of America,” the trailer’s tagline reads across the screen.

Melania is directed by Brett Ratner, a controversial director who was accused of sexual assault during the Me Too era. Melania is Ratner’s first directed movie since 2014’s Hercules. Previously canceled due to the allegations, Melania is viewed as Ratner’s comeback movie.

Because of Ratner’s involvement in Melania, President Trump pushed hard for Rush Hour 4, the long-gestating sequel in the buddy cop franchise starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. Trump pushed the Ellison family to greenlight Rush Hour 4 at Paramount. The Ellisons listened, and Paramount worked out a deal with Warner Bros. to produce the film.

Melania will premiere in theaters on January 30, 2026. It will then stream on Prime Video after its theatrical run. Amazon reportedly paid $40 million to license the documentary.
