RT Score for New Sydney Sweeney Movie Is Way Better Than Christy

Sydney Sweeney‘s latest movie, The Housemaid, received a higher Rotten Tomatoes score than her previous release, Christy. The former’s score, based on 52 reviews, is higher than the latter’s by 13% on the Tomatometer. Directed by Paul Feig, The Housemaid will soon see a theatrical release in the United States on December 19, 2025.

Check out the two Sydney Sweeney movies’ scores below.

What is The Housemaid’s Rotten Tomatoes score?

The Housemaid, starring Sydney Sweeney, Amanda Seyfried, Brandon Sklenar and Michelle Morrone, received a Tomatometer score of 79% with 52 reviews, higher than Sweeney’s Christy, which received a Rotten Tomatoes score of 66% with 188 reviews. Christy came out on November 7, 2025, following the story of professional American boxer Christy Martin. While Sweeney received immense praise for her portrayal of Martins, the film as a whole seems to have just failed to hit the mark.

However, just before its theatrical release, The Housemaid, which is based on the book of the same name by Freida McFadden, seems to have received better overall reviews as per its Tomatometer reading. Most critics from Rotten Tomatoes-verified publications speak highly of Amanda Seyfried’s performance in the film, while also highlighting that both audiences — those who read the book and those who haven’t — will enjoy this psychological thriller.

Christy failed to meet expectations at the box office. Nevertheless, Sweeney defended the film online, taking to Instagram to address the same.

In the caption of her post, she wrote, “thank you to everyone who saw, felt, and believed and will believe in this story for years to come. if christy gave even one woman the courage to take her first step toward safety, then we will have succeeded. so yes I’m proud. why? because we don’t always just make art for numbers, we make it for impact. and christy has been the most impactful project of my life. thank you christy. i love you.”
