Hugh Jackman Looks Unrecognizable in The Death of Robin Hood Photos
A24 has revealed new photos and plot details for The Death of Robin Hood, the new thriller starring Hugh Jackman.
What are The Death of Robin Hood plot details?
Jackman plays Robin Hood as we’ve never seen him before. In new photos shared by EW, Jackman is sporting shaggy grey hair and a long beard. Jackman is an older, weathered version of the titular folk hero.
Written and directed by Michael Sarnoski, The Death of Robin Hood stars Jackman, Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett, and Noah Jupe.
Comer is not playing Maid Marian. Instead, Sarnoski describes Comer’s character as someone who introduces Robin to “another side of life.” Meanwhile, Skarsgård depicts a version of Little John, whom Robin Hood once mentored.
Sarnoski kept most of the plot details close to the vest while speaking with EW. However, the director confirmed that the movie follows Robin Hood grappling with his past while approaching the end of his life.
“He was this murderous outlaw who did a lot of terrible things, and was kind of monstrous,” Sarnoski said. “But he’s lived long enough to see this folklore get created about him. He’s figuring out how he feels about that, about being portrayed as a hero when he knows what he really was.”
The Death of Robin Hood is “intense,” but not in the way of a typical action movie.
“It almost gets towards feeling like a war movie,” Sarnoski added. “Fighting back in those days was brutal; it wasn’t people dancing around and fencing. It was people in the mud trying to crack each other’s heads open with a shovel.”
The Death of Robin Hood is Sarnoski’s first movie since 2024’s A Quiet Place: Day One, which garnered positive reviews and grossed $261 million worldwide.
A24 will release The Death of Robin Hood in 2026.
