Weapons Aunt Gladys Prequel Movie Gets Worrisome Update from Amy Madigan
Amy Madigan has given a somewhat worrisome update regarding the Weapons Aunt Gladys prequel movie.
Warner Bros. Pictures’ Weapons was released in United States theaters this past August. Written and directed by Zach Cregger, it stars Josh Brolin as Archer Graff, Julia Garner as Justine Gandy, Alden Ehrenreich as Paul Morgan, Austin Abrams as James, Benedict Wong as Marcus Miller, and Madigan as Aunt Gladys.
Following the release of Weapons, Cregger announced that he’s developing a prequel movie focused on Madigan’s Aunt Gladys. He told Deadline last month that he’s still actively exploring the idea and that the project is “still kind of in the deal-making process.”
What did Amy Madigan say about the Weapons Aunt Gladys prequel?
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Madigan expressed her excitement about the potential project; however, she did also note that it doesn’t yet seem definite that the project will come to fruition.
“Zach has a map of what he would like to do. But as we know about this business — until it’s real, it’s not real,” Madigan said. “It would be such a blast, and it would be really great if we could revisit her in some way. I’m excited about that possibility…So much business is involved in that, which I’m not involved in, so we’ll all just have to wait and see.”
Plot details for the Weapons Gladys prequel remain under wraps at this time, and it’s unclear if any of the other cast members from the 2025 movie could also return alongside Madigan.
Weapons, meanwhile, is currently available to stream on HBO Max.
The official synopsis for the movie reads, ”When all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance.”
