Man of Tomorrow’s Nicholas Hoult Gives Exciting Update on DC Movie

Nicholas Hoult recently shared his reaction to the Man of Tomorrow script and reflected on playing Lex Luthor.

What is Nicholas Hoult’s Man of Tomorrow update?

Man of Tomorrow, the sequel to 2025’s Superman, is the next story in what James Gunn is calling the Superman Saga. While speaking to Variety, Hoult reflected on playing the iconic villain in Superman.

“There’s been so many wonderful actors who’ve played Lex. So I feel honored to be another one, another name added to that list,” Hoult said. “And I just love what James Gunn writes, how he wants to portray that character, evolve the character going forward as well. So I feel like I’m in safe hands with him, and it’s a character that I really enjoy playing. It makes me happy.”

As for Man of Tomorrow, Hoult described Gunn’s script as “awesome.” Many of the plot details remain under wraps. While speaking to Howard Stern, Gunn shared what fans can expect in Man of Tomorrow.

“It is a story about Lex Luthor and Superman having to work together to a certain degree against a much, much bigger threat,” Gunn explained. “And it’s more complicated than that, but that’s a big part of it. It’s as much a Lex movie as it is a Superman movie.”

Brainiac is reportedly the villain in Man of Tomorrow. Wonder Woman and a “major new male character” are rumored to appear in the Superman follow-up.

Besides Hoult, the cast of Man of Tomorrow includes David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr.

Gunn will write and direct the Superman sequel. It will be the fourth movie in the new DC Universe. Filming is expected to begin in April 2026. Man of Tomorrow flies into theaters on July 9, 2027.
