Supergirl Teaser Trailer Sets Release Date for Next DC Movie

A release date for the first Supergirl teaser trailer has been set.

DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures’ Supergirl is the upcoming superhero movie arriving in United States theaters next summer. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the DCU film stars Milly Alcock as Supergirl/Kara Zor-El, a character who briefly appeared in James Gunn’s Superman movie.

Yesterday, Gunn teased on social media that the first teaser trailer for Supergirl will be released this week. He also shared a short, ten-second-long video promoting the trailer’s upcoming release.

When is the first Supergirl teaser trailer being released?

Per World of Reel, it is now known that the first trailer for Supergirl will be released on Thursday, December 11, 2025. The time of its release is not yet clear.

Supergirl is based on the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow miniseries by Tom King and Bilquis Evely. The solicitation for the first issue of that series reads, “Kara Zor-El has seen some epic adventures over the years, but finds her life without meaning or purpose. Here she is, a young woman who saw her planet destroyed and was sent to Earth to protect a baby cousin who ended up not needing her. What was it all for? Wherever she goes, people only see her through the lens of Superman’s fame. Just when Supergirl thinks she’s had enough, everything changes. An alien girl seeks her out for a vicious mission. Her world has been destroyed, and the bad guys responsible are still out there. She wants revenge, and if Supergirl doesn’t help her, she’ll do it herself, whatever the cost. Now a Kryptonian, a dog, and an angry, heartbroken child head out into space on a journey that will shake them to their very core.”

In addition to Alcock, the cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze, Jason Momoa as Lobo, and Ferdinand Kingsley as Elias Knoll.

Supergirl will be released on June 26, 2026.
