The Summer I Turned Pretty Movie Gets Release Date Update
With The Summer I Turned Pretty viewers eagerly waiting for word on the forthcoming movie, creator Jenny Han has come out to set fan expectations straight regarding its premiere. Han, who gained worldwide acclaim for penning the TSITP novels in the 2010s, shed light on the release date status of the TSITP movie that will wrap up the fan-favorite Prime Video series in a recent interview, confirming that it won’t be coming out in 2025.
Jenny Han says The Summer I Turned Pretty movie’s Christmas 2025 release date is ‘not possible’
During a recent public appearance, the 45-year-old author revealed that she has just finished writing the script for The Summer I Turned Pretty movie.
“I just wrote it. We have not filmed anything yet,” Jenny Han remarked at The Wrap’s 2025 Power Women Summit. A veteran of the coming-of-age genre, she then debunked rumors surrounding the release date of the highly anticipated TSITP movie. “I know that everyone was hoping that it was coming out this Christmas,” Han explained, “but unfortunately, not happening, not possible.”
The To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy author doubled down on her point by highlighting the hectic post-production schedule of TSITP Season 3, which concluded just one month before the installment’s premiere on Prime Video. “The show came out in July. So it was really up to the last minute on the show, so that we wouldn’t have had time to film the whole movie,” she noted.
Notably, Jenny Han had stated in a previous interview that the movie might take some time to come out, as the TSITP team has yet to film a single scene. “I don’t know when it will be out, but I don’t think it’s safe to say next year because we haven’t filmed it yet,” she said.
Hence, considering Han’s latest update regarding The Summer I Turned Pretty movie, fans can expect it to come out sometime in 2027.
