Movie Based on Classic Children’s Books in Works From Paddington Producers
StudioCanal recently announced that a Mr. Men Little Miss feature film is in development. The studio, which last teamed up with Heyday Films to create the immensely successful Paddington films, will now come together again to work on this upcoming movie based on the classic children’s books by Roger Hargreaves. The production companies, as well as the official Mr. Men Little Miss pages, announced that the film is now in the works.
Paddington producers are developing Mr. Men Little Miss movie
StudioCanal recently announced that a Mr. Men Little Miss movie is in the works via a collaboration between the studio and producers who made the Paddington films. In a statement, StudioCanal mentioned, “This film builds on two recent milestones in the Mr. Men Little Miss universe: the animated series now streaming on YouTube and a second animated series currently in production for television. Together, these initiatives underscore Sanrio’s strategy to extend the brand into dynamic entertainment platforms while maintaining publishing as its foundation.”
Sanrio, the brand that is also home to the Hello Kitty franchise, acquired the Mr. Men Little Miss brand in 2011. Since then, they expanded the cast to over 90 characters, including special editions inspired by cultural figures. Now recognized worldwide, Mr. Men Little Miss has fanbases in the United Kingdom, France, Australia, and Asia, and has products across fashion, health and beauty, toys, and other categories.
Additionally, Roger Hargreaves’ son, Adam Hargreaves, said, “It’s an amazing thought to think that the Mr. Men and Little Miss are going to feature in their own film, it’s very exciting news. My father would have been thrilled, and I can’t say how proud I am of his creation that it merits an appearance on the big screen. It’s a big step up for Mr. Small.”
The Mr. Men Little Miss Instagram page also posted the announcement with the caption, “The Mr. Men Little Miss movie is in the making! This isn’t one of Mr. Fib’s tall tales! Little Miss Chatterbox can’t stop talking about it (of course she can’t!) and Mr. Greedy’s already making popcorn (though we don’t think it’ll last till the premiere).”
