Jason Statham-led The Beekeeper 2 wraps production
Jason Statham-led action sequel The Beekeeper 2 has officially wrapped production. Director Timo Tjahjanto confirmed the news on December 3, 2025, by posting three behind-the-scenes images with the caption “Wrapped. #TheBeekeeper2” on X (formerly Twitter).
The film has entered post-production following the completion of principal photography. Amazon MGM Studios may release it in mid-to-late 2026, but they have not confirmed an official date.
Director Timo Tjahjanto, known for his work on The Night Comes for Us, took over the Beekeeper franchise from David Ayer. In an interview with ScreenRant, Tjahjanto stated his creative direction for the sequel would reshape Jason Statham’s character, Adam Clay, into his own interpretation of Marvel’s The Punisher. “If I can’t make The Punisher film, if the Gods of film aren’t allowing me to do a Punisher film yet, then I’ll turn Adam Clay into my own version of The Punisher,” he said.
Explaining his interest in the franchise, Tjahjanto added, “I’m definitely drawn to the Beekeeper series just because when I watched it, I always felt that, ‘Wow, this is essentially Statham playing one of my favorite characters in the Marvel universe, which is The Punisher.’” He emphasized that Statham’s acting persona closely resembles Frank Castle’s traits.
“I think Statham has that quality in him. He has that very stoic Frank Castle-esque quality to him. And I love that Adam Clay is definitely a guy who is quite colorful in his choice of violence. He gets really, really creative with his violence,” the director added.
Tjahjanto also highlighted the scale of the sequel, promising larger antagonists. “Another thing that draws me is definitely the escalation of just how big the villains are in this film. So, you can wait for that.”
Amazon MGM Studios has confirmed the film is in development.
