Helen Hunt Frames Maika Monroe for Murder in In Cold Light Trailer

Saban Films has released the official trailer for In Cold Light, the upcoming crime thriller led by Maika Monroe (It Follows) and Academy Award winner Helen Hunt (As Good as It Gets). The movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on January 23, 2026.

“Fresh out of prison, Ava fights to reclaim her drug empire but is framed for murder, hunted by cops and a ruthless crime boss. Forced to face her estranged father, she battles betrayal and bloodshed to survive,” reads the movie’s official synopsis.

What happens in the In Cold Light trailer?

The video features Monroe as Ava, who suddenly gets framed for the murder of her brother. Because of this, she goes on the run to escape the powerful people who are hunting her down. The ensemble cast also includes Troy Kotsur as Will, Allan Hawco as Bob, Jesse Irving as Tom, Patrick Sabongui as Sef, David Haysom as Bill Morris, Warona Setshwaelo as Marge, Noah Parker as Adam, Jessica Abruzzese as Donna, and more.

In Cold Light is directed by Maxime Giroux, with Patrick Whistler writing the screenplay. The movie is executive-produced by Monroe, Todd Brown, Maxime Cottray, Karen Harnisch, Adrian Love, Michael O’Leary, and Tim Ringuette. It is also produced by Yanick Létourneau and Mike MacMillan. The creative team consists of cinematographer Sara Mishara, composer Philippe Brault, production designer Colombe Raby, and costume designer Patricia McNeil. According to Letterboxd, the movie will have a total running time of around 96 minutes or an hour and 36 minutes.
