Hit Vampire Movies With Wesley Snipes Set Prime Video Streaming Date

Two Marvel vampire movies, Blade and Blade II, with Wesley Snipes as the lead will soon start streaming on Prime Video. Blade was originally released in 1998 and proved to be a considerable success. This led to the development of Blade II, which debuted in 2022 and also performed well.

Blade and Blade 2 begin streaming on Prime Video in December

Blade and Blade II will start streaming on Prime Video on December 30, 2025 (via ComicBook.com). Both movies are adaptations of the namesake Marvel character. David S. Goyer penned the script for these movies, with Stephen Norrington helming the first one and Guillermo del Toro directing the second. A third movie in the series, Blade: Trinity, came out in 2004, with Goyer writing and directing it.

The Blade films came out in a time when superhero movies were not as prominent as they are now and effectively set the stage for the genre to dominate the global box office. They also ensured Snipes’ placement among iconic superhero stars. Decades later, Snipes would reprise the role of Eric Brooks / Blade in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

Besides Snipes, the cast of Blade includes Stephen Dorff as Deacon Frost, Kris Kristofferson as Abraham Whistler, N’Bushe Wright as Dr. Karen Jenson, Udo Kier as Gitano Dragonetti, and Donal Logue as Quinn.

Kristofferson returned with Snipes in Blade 2. The cast also comprised Norman Reedus as Scud, Ron Perlman as Dieter Reinhardt, Leonor Varela as Nyssa Damaskinos, Thomas Kretschmann as Eli Damaskinos, Donnie Yen as Snowman, and Luke Goss as Jared Nomak.

Blade 2 was the fourth feature movie for del Toro after Cronos (1992), Mimic (1997), and The Devil’s Backbone (2001). He followed Blade 2 with Hellboy and Pan’s Labyrinth. Del Toro’s most recent feature, an iteration of Mary Shelley’s 1818 Gothic sci-fi novel Frankenstein, recently debuted on Netflix after a limited theatrical release.
