Popular Kevin Bacon & Josh Brolin Horror Movie Arrives Soon on Netflix

A highly anticipated sci-fi horror film starring Josh Brolin and Kevin Bacon is set to join Netflix’s streaming lineup. New details confirm that it will become available at the start of the month. As Netflix prepares for a packed end-of-year schedule, the addition of this early 2000s thriller has caught attention.

Hollow Man begins streaming on Netflix in December

Hollow Man (2000), directed by Paul Verhoeven and starring Kevin Bacon, begins streaming on Netflix in the United States on December 1, 2025. It is part of a larger wave of licensed titles arriving on the platform during the final month of the year, which includes films such as Godzilla (2014), Pulp Fiction (1994), and The Wolf of Wall Street (2013).

Hollow Man is a science fiction horror thriller about molecular biologist Dr. Sebastian Caine, who volunteers to test an invisibility serum on himself. When the procedure to restore his visibility fails, he becomes increasingly unhinged and violent. The film also stars Elisabeth Shue and Josh Brolin, and features visual effects by Sony Pictures Imageworks and Tippett Studio. It grossed over $190 million worldwide and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects.

According to What’s on Netflix, Hollow Man is among numerous titles scheduled to join the U.S. Netflix catalog on December 1. Other films and series arriving the same day include As Good as It Gets (1997), Cheaper by the Dozen (2003), Little Women (2019), and the Netflix Original documentary All The Empty Rooms (2025).

The production team filmed Hollow Man in chronological order. They used locations in Washington, D.C., and Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City. The team created over 560 visual effects shots. These included fully digital reconstructions of Kevin Bacon’s body to show his character’s gradual transformation into invisibility. They also used a latex bodysuit and thermal imaging to visualize Sebastian’s movements while invisible.

The film premiered in theaters on August 4, 2000. It opened at #1 at the U.S. box office with $26.4 million. It held the top spot for multiple weeks. This marked Verhoeven’s biggest box office success since Basic Instinct (1992).
