Mahesh Babu leads the cast as Rudhra, making it his first collaboration with Rajamouli. He made a dramatic entrance riding a mechanical white bull, echoing his blood-smeared warrior look revealed in the footage. Calling the film “a once-in-a-lifetime project,” Babu told fans, “I’ll make everyone proud. Most importantly, I’ll make my director the most proud. The whole of India will be proud of us.”

Priyanka Chopra Jonas returns to Indian cinema as Mandakini. She praised Rajamouli, saying, “You are truly the visionary that has brought Indian cinema to the globe like no one else has before.”

Prithviraj Sukumaran, who plays the antagonist Kumbha, said, “This is Indian cinema’s biggest brand, flexing his ambition… This is S.S. Rajamouli once again, taking Indian cinema to the world, this time bigger, hopefully better, and definitely more audacious than ever before.”

Produced by Sri Durga Arts and Showing Business, with K.L. Narayana and S.S. Karthikeya on board, Varanasi is reportedly targeting a global theatrical release in summer 2027. The film follows a world-traversing hero confronting mythic forces, continuing Rajamouli’s trajectory of expanding Indian cinema’s global footprint. About the movie, Rajamouli said, “It will be far more beautiful than you imagine. Far more divine than you imagine.”
