Trap House 2: Why Dave Bautista’s New Movie Could Get a Sequel
Even prior to the theatrical release of Trap House, a sequel already seems to be in the works, considering lead actor Dave Bautista‘s latest comments. In a recent interview, the Guardians of the Galaxy star revealed that the Trap House team had always envisioned kick-starting a new franchise with the Michael Dowse-helmed action thriller.
Dave Bautista says Trap House was always set to start franchise
While speaking with MovieWeb‘s Joe Deckelmeier, Bautista remarked that he and the Trap House team meticulously planned the movie in order to leave room for a Part 2 and other subsequent sequels.
Talking about the young cast of the movie, Bautista divulged that they were “very particular about casting this film” and hand-picked up-and-coming actors for the project in a bid to “set this film up to be a franchise.”
“I knew, moving forward, it would be all about the kids,” the wrestler-turned-actor said, before adding, “This was always developed to be that. And the first film we would have to establish, you know, the kids and the relationships, but I was always one of the parents to be the backdrop, because I wanted this to be about the kids and move forward with the kids.”
Directed by Michael Dowse and featuring Dave Bautista in the lead, Trap House also stars Jack Champion, Sophia Lillis, Kate del Castillo, Whitney Peak, Bobby Cannavale, and Tony Dalton, among others, in supporting roles. The movie revolves around the work of an undercover DEA agent and his partner, who discover that their kids have been using their strategies and intel to steal from a dangerous drug cartel. However, trouble soon shows up at their doorstep, resulting in a high-octane cat-and-mouse chase.
The creators of Trap House have yet to officially confirm a sequel. However, Bautista’s comments suggest that plans to turn Trap House into a franchise are already in the works.
