DCU Actor Reveals They Will Be a ‘Big Part’ of Man of Tomorrow Movie

A DCU actor has revealed that they’ll have a “big part” of Man of Tomorrow.

DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures released Superman in theaters in July 2025. Directed by James Gunn, the movie stars David Corenswet as the titular superhero, while Nicholas Hoult plays Lex Luthor and Rachel Brosnahan stars as Lois Lane.

A follow-up movie, titled Man of Tomorrow, is now in the works and is currently dated for 2027. Not much is known about Man of Tomorrow’s plot, other than that it will see Superman and Lex reluctantly work together to face a new threat.

It has recently been confirmed that Frank Grillo will reprise his role as Rick Flag Sr. in Man of Tomorrow. The Rick Flag Sr. character first debuted in the DCU in 2024’s Creature Commandos before he then went on to appear in Superman and Peacemaker Season 2.

What did Frank Grillo say about Man of Tomorrow?

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Grillo confirmed that his Man of Tomorrow role won’t just be a cameo; rather, he’ll have a big part to play in the story.

“My character, Rick Flag Sr., is a big part of the sequel’s story, so I’m excited about it,” Grillo said.

Further details beyond that are not available at this time; however, given that Peacemaker Season 2 sets up some future DCU storylines regarding Salvation and Checkmate, it seems that Grillo is teasing that Man of Tomorrow will be addressing these plot points, in some capacity, head-on.

Whether or not these storylines will continue to be addressed in other DCU projects remains to be seen. The DCU projects that are being released in 2026 are the Lanterns TV show, Supergirl, and Clayface. Grillo has not been confirmed to appear in any of those movies or series at this time.

Man of Tomorrow will be released in United States theaters on July 9, 2027.
