Shazam! Star Zachary Levi Answers DCU Return Question

Zachary Levi recently addressed whether he would return to the DC Universe under James Gunn’s new direction. Speaking about his time as Shazam!, the actor reflected on his experience playing the beloved superhero.

Zachary Levi recently opened up about the possibility of returning to the DC Universe following Shazam! Fury of the Gods. In an interview with Feature First’s Ansh Dubey, the actor reflected on his time as Shazam and addressed whether he would consider reprising the role.

When asked, “Zach, do you at all want to be involved in James Gunn’s new DCU?” Levi expressed his interest in returning. He said, “Oh, yeah. I love playing Shazam. It was one of the most fun experiences.” The actor further explained, “I grew up watching Christopher Reeve’s Superman and Tom Hanks’ Big, and I got to be both in one role. And he’s such a fun role.” Levi added that he valued his bond with the cast and described the experience of working on both films as “awesome.”

The actor went on to say that he would be open to reprising his role as Shazam or taking on a different DC character if James Gunn or the studio approached him. He explained, “So long as it was something that was really worthy, like a character or a story is like, ‘Oh, wow. that’s new or that’s different or that hasn’t, you know, that’s that’s a flavor that we haven’t really seen yet before.’”

Levi noted that with the growing number of superhero films today, he appreciated Shazam! for its unique approach. He said, “One of the things I loved about Shazam! is that it was very specifically different than most other superheroes. But yeah, I think that would be a lot of fun.”

As of now, there is no official word on Levi’s future in the DCU.
