Elizabeth Olsen Gives Definitive Answer on Avengers: Doomsday Involvement

Elizabeth Olsen has finally addressed one of the biggest questions surrounding the next Avengers film. The longtime Marvel star spoke about her future in the franchise and clarified her involvement in Avengers: Doomsday while reflecting on her journey as Wanda Maximoff.

Elizabeth Olsen on if she will appear as Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Doomsday

Speaking to The Playlist while promoting her upcoming film Eternity, about her journey in the MCU, Elizabeth Olsen said, “I’ve been really proud of what we’ve been able to make. Really proud. But I don’t have an answer for that.” When asked if fans could expect her to appear in the upcoming ensemble, she clarified, “Well, I can’t. Honestly, I do wait. I want to see [her] return in this role because I think what they’ve done with her is really great, and I love the journey she’s taken.”

Olsen added that while she loves playing the Scarlet Witch, there are no multiverse plans in motion. “I think it’s always a fun one to get to go back into, and I just have no idea how or when, for sure,” she said, which means she likely isn’t a part of Doomsday.

Production on Avengers: Doomsday wrapped in mid-September 2025, and although Olsen confirmed her absence, Marvel’s secrecy around cameos has left room for future speculation. There’s also a possibility for the actress to be taking a page out of Andrew Garfield’s book. So fans should still look out for her appearance in at least one of the upcoming Avengers movies, if not both. The studio has set the film’s release for December 18, 2026, following Avengers: Secret Wars reshoots expected for spring 2026.

Outside the MCU, Olsen is focusing on auteur-driven projects. She leads Todd Solondz’s Love Child, a dark comedy following a boy who attempts to orchestrate a relationship between his mother and a tenant after his father’s near-death.

She is also part of Panos Cosmatos’ Flesh of the Gods, a neon-soaked 1980s vampire thriller featuring Kristen Stewart and Oscar Isaac, alongside Olsen. “I’m not really interested in just jumping from franchise to franchise,” Olsen explained, adding, “I’m hoping to make things that are more reflective of culture and our time.”

Both films remain in active development, marking Olsen’s continued pivot toward independent and director-led storytelling.
