Colin Farrell Is a Badass Priest in Action Mob Movie From The Russo Bros.

Academy Award nominee Colin Farrell is set to star in the upcoming action thriller movie, titled Ordained, which will be produced by Avengers: Doomsday directors Joe and Anthony Russo. It is based on Bad Idea’s newest comic book of the same name from writer Robert Venditti, illustrator Trevor Hairsine, and colorist Dave Stewart. This comes ahead of the comic book’s official launch on December 10, 2025.

What do we know about Colin Farrell’s Ordained movie?

According to THR, Ordained is being written by John Wick creator Derek Kolstad, who is also serving as a producer along with Dinesh Shamdasani and Benjamin Simpson for Bad Idea. Kolstad has been attached to the project since 2024. The Russo brothers, Angela Russo-Otstot, and Michael Disco will be producing for AGBO.

Farrell will be playing a priest, who turns out to be a skilled fighter due to his dark past. He’s forced to use his fighting skills to the test after he finds himself suddenly being targeted by a mob boss. In addition to leading the cast, Farrell has also signed on as a producer along with his sister, Claudine Farrell, through their Chapel Place banner. The Penguin star was most recently seen in the romantic fantasy movie A Big Bold Beautiful Journey with Margot Robbie, and in Netflix’s black comedy thriller Ballad of a Small Player.

“The story follows Father Roy Craig, a priest who performs last rites on a mob boss who miraculously survives — but not before confessing his crimes to the father,” reads the synopsis. “Soon after, Father Roy finds himself targeted by hitmen, corrupt cops, and gangsters — all sent by the mob boss who wants to silence him. But Father Roy secretly has a violent past that makes him a more dangerous target than anyone imagines. (Luckily for his adversaries, he does follow the commandment Thou Shall Not Kill.)”
