Man of Tomorrow Cast Confirmed to Include Returning DCU Actor

An important DCU actor has confirmed that they’ll be reprising their role in Man of Tomorrow.

Man of Tomorrow is James Gunn’s forthcoming DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures movie that will serve as a follow-up to 2025’s Superman. David Corenswet will reprise his role as the titular superhero in the new film, while Nicholas Hoult is also returning as Lex Luthor.

Who has confirmed they’re in Man of Tomorrow?

Now, Rick Flag Sr. actor Frank Grillo has confirmed that he’ll also be starring in Man of Tomorrow.

It was highly speculated that Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. would return in Man of Tomorrow, especially due to some recent comments from Gunn. Speaking with Brandon Davis on The Morning After Pod: Phase Hero’s Peacemaker Podcast, Gunn described Rick Flag Sr. as someone who can “travel in and out of these stories.”

He also said that Peacemaker Season 2 won’t be “the end of” the DCU showing “an unlikely pairing of people,” referring to Flag and Lex Luthor.

Now, on Instagram, Grillo has shared a photo reposting an article from The Direct while confirming that he will indeed be in Man of Tomorrow. View a screenshot of Grillo’s Instagram Story below:

How big a role Grillo has in Man of Tomorrow remains to be seen, as plot details are being kept under wraps at this time. All that is known about the movie is that it will see Superman and Lex have to reluctantly work together to overcome a larger threat. That threat is heavily speculated to be Brainiac, though this has yet to be confirmed by Gunn. The end of Peacemaker Season 2 also set up some future DCU story threads related to Salvation and Checkmater; whether Man of Tomorrow deals with this or if that’s being saved for a different DCU project is not yet clear.

Man of Tomorrow will be released on July 9, 2027.
