What happens in the Marty Supreme trailer?
The video introduces Chalamet as Marty Mauser, a table tennis player who’s very determined to fulfill his dreams of making it big in the world of sports. His character is loosely inspired by Marty Reisman, who was a champion table tennis player who started as a hustler in New York City playing for bets and prize money.
The trailer also teases the crazy lengths he’ll go through for his dreams, as he confidently shows off his ping-pong skills to the world while trying to defy the odds against him. It also provides a closer look at the rest of the main cast, including Gwyneth Paltrow as Kay Stone, Odessa A’zion as Rachel, Kevin O’Leary as Milton Rockwell, Tyler Okonma aka Tyler the Creator as Wally, Abel Ferrara as Ezra, and Fran Drescher as Mrs. Mauser.
Marty Supreme is directed by Uncut Gems co-director Josh Safdie, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Ronald Bronstein. The film is produced by Safdie, Bronstein, Chalamet, Eli Bush, and Anthony Katagas, with Timo Argillander, Joe Guest, Sara Rossein, and Andrea Scarso serving as executive producers. The creative team consists of director of photography Darius Khondji, composer Daniel Lopatin, production designer Jack Fisk, and costume designer Miyako Bellizzi.
