Supergirl’s Milly Alcock & Oscar Nominee Get Trapped in New Survival Movie

Ahead of starring in her own superhero movie, Milly Alcock has signed on to a brand new movie with Academy Award winner Toni Collette (Hereditary, Knives Out). Alcock and Collette will officially be leading the upcoming survival thriller movie, titled Hot Mother, which will start its production sometime in 2026 in Australia.

Alcock first gained recognition for her performance as Rhaenyra Targaryen in the first season of House of the Dragon. After her brief cameo in James Gunn’s recent Superman movie, the Australian actress will finally make her official debut as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in her upcoming solo DC Universe movie on June 26, 2026.

What do we know about Milly Alcock’s new survival movie?

“In Hot Mother, a mother and daughter visit a remote wellness spa for the weekend in an attempt to reconnect. But their time together quickly turns into a physical and psychological fight for survival when they get trapped in a sauna where no one can hear their cries for help,” reads the synopsis (via Deadline).

The movie will be directed by Lucy Knox in her feature directorial debut. It will be based on his 2020 short movie of the same name. In addition to starring, Collette has also boarded the project as an executive producer alongside Jen Turner through their Vocab Films banner. The film will be produced by Sarah Shaw and Anna McLeish for Carver Films, and Alex Coco for Rapt Films, with Ruby Monette-Meadow serving as an executive producer.

“We were sold on Hot Mother from the title alone, but discovering Lucy Knox’s incredible short and reading the screenplay solidified our immense passion for this story,” Bankside Films’ Stephen Kelliher said in a statement. “With character and mother-daughter relationships at its heart, the film will thrill audiences with its edge-of-your-seat take on a survival story.”
