Timothée Chalamet Reacts to Losing Best Actor Oscar, Reveals If He’d Do TV

Dune star Timothée Chalamet has finally shared his honest reaction to losing the Best Actor award at the Academy Awards for the second time. For his breakout performance in Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me by Your Name, he received his first Oscar nomination at the age of 22, making him the third-youngest nominee in the Best Actor category. His second Best Actor nomination came earlier this year, when he was recognized for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in James Mangold’s A Complete Unknown.

Chalamet will next be seen in A24’s sports comedy drama Marty Supreme, which will debut in theaters this Christmas. He is also currently in production for Dune: Part Three, where he’ll be reprising his role as Paul Atreides. The highly anticipated movie will premiere on December 18, 2026.

What did Timothée Chalamet say about losing an Oscar Award?

During a recent interview with Vogue, Chalamet opened up about his second Oscar nomination, admitting that he was indeed disappointed with not being able to win the Best Actor award. He also revealed that he doesn’t really care if people will call him a “try-hard” for reacting this way, at least he was honest about his feelings.

“If there’s five people at an awards show, and four people go home losing,” Chalamet shared, “You don’t think those four people are at the restaurant like, ‘Damn, we didn’t win’? I’ve been around some deeply generous, no-ego actors, and maybe some of them are going, ‘That was fun.’ But I know for a fact a lot of them are going, ‘F**k!’ People can call me a try-hard, and they can say whatever the fuck. But I’m the one actually doing it here.”

In addition, when asked if he had ever considered returning to television, Chalamet confidently responded with a simple “no.” Since his breakout role in 2017, he hasn’t acted in any scripted TV shows. His last TV project was in 2021 for the acclaimed thriller drama Homeland, in which he played the recurring role of Finn Walden.
