Gremlins 3 Release Date & Steven Spielberg’s Involvement Revealed

Warner Bros. has announced the release date for Gremlins 3, the highly anticipated next entry to Amblin Entertainment’s iconic horror comedy franchise. This announcement comes over three months after original Gremlins star Zach Galligan confirmed that the movie’s script had already been completed. Now, it looks like the movie is finally moving forward, a decade after the studio started developing the project.

When is the Gremlins 3 release date?

Per Variety, Gremlins 3 is now officially scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 19, 2027, pitting it directly against Oscar-winning directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s next directorial feature following the success of 2022’s Everything Everywhere All at Once. In addition, it will also debut in the same month as Disney’s Frozen III.

The next installment will once again be executive-produced by Steven Spielberg. Meanwhile, Harry Potter and Home Alone director Chris Columbus will also be returning to the franchise to helm and produce the film, after previously writing the first installment’s script. At the moment, further details about the movie’s plot and cast are still under wraps.

Gremlins was a horror comedy directed by Joe Dante from a screenplay written by Chris Columbus. Besides Galligan, the first installment also starred Phoebe Cates, Hoyt Axton, Polly Holliday, and Frances Lee McCain, with Howie Mandel providing the voice of Gizmo. Due to its critical success, the movie was followed by a sequel, titled Gremlins 2: The New Batch in 1994.

In the original 1984 movie, Galligan was introduced as Billy Peltzer, whose father gifted him with a mogwai named Gizmo. However, his unusual-looking but friendly pet comes with three strict rules he must follow: never expose Gizmo to sunlight, don’t let it come in contact with water, and never feed it after midnight. Things go horribly wrong after Gizmo accidentally gets water spilled on him, leaving Billy in a difficult situation.
