Johnny Depp discusses if he’d do another Pirates of the Caribbean movie

Johnny Depp has opened up about the possibility of reprising his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

At the Beverly Hills premiere of his upcoming film Modì, Three Days on the Wing of Madness, Depp was told, “I am so excited for everything you do and we are still hoping for another Pirates film.” The actor simply responded, “That’d be fun.”

Though Depp did not confirm any official discussions, his brief comment has sparked fan hopes for another Pirates installment. The actor first portrayed Captain Jack Sparrow in 2003’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, later appearing in four sequels. The last installment, Dead Men Tell No Tales, premiered in 2017, after which the future of the franchise remained uncertain.

Previously, Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer told reporters that the team is still working on a screenplay for the next installment. He suggested that Depp’s return would depend on the quality of the story.

The actor said, “If he likes the way the part’s written, I think he would do it. It’s all about what’s on the page, as we all know.” However, Disney has yet to make any official announcements (via Entertainment Weekly).

In the meantime, Depp is focusing on other creative ventures. Aside from directing Modì, which features Al Pacino, he is set to return to acting with a new adaptation of A Christmas Carol.
