Muppets: Miss Piggy Movie Announced With Emma Stone & Jennifer Lawrence
The Hunger Games alum Jennifer Lawrence confirmed that she and Emma Stone have finally found their first project together in the form of a Muppets movie about Miss Piggy.
The beloved diva character was designed by Jim Henson Company’s Bonnie Erickson in 1974 for The Muppet Show. Since her debut, she has become a pop culture icon due to her charm, style, and strong personality.
Despite not starring together in a project, Lawrence and Stone managed to become close friends thanks to Woody Harrelson, who got to work with the acclaimed actresses in different projects such as The Hunger Games movies and Zombieland movies, respectively. Interestingly, they also share several similarities, like winning an Academy Award for Best Actress during their 20s.
What do we know about the Miss Piggy movie?
During a recent interview on Las Culturistas with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, Lawrence admitted that she and Stone will be producing a Miss Peggy movie with Tony-winning actor Cole Escola writing the screenplay.
“I don’t know if I can announce this, but I’m just going to,” she shared. “Emma Stone and I are producing a Miss Piggy movie, and Cole is writing it.”
When asked if they would also star in the Muppets movie, Lawrence responded with “I think so… We have to.” In addition, she also addressed previous reports regarding her involvement in the potential remake of Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn’s Death Becomes Her. Lawrence revealed that, although it’s just a rumor, she would be very willing to star in the said remake if given the chance.
“No, that was just like fan casting,” she stated. “It would be great. I would love to. I mean, I would be there.”
At the moment, Lawrence will next be seen in the upcoming comedy-drama Die My Love, which also stars Robert Pattinson. It is scheduled to debut on November 7. She is also currently attached to star in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming mystery thriller, What Happens at Night, with Leonardo DiCaprio. As for Stone, she was most recently seen in Yorgos Lanthimos’ black comedy movie Bugonia and in Ari Aster’s Western thriller movie Eddington.
