Star Wars Fans Afraid of The Mandalorian’s Fate After New Grogu Movie Promo
Jon Favreau and Pedro Pascal became the focus of fan speculation after a new The Mandalorian & Grogu promo reignited debate about Din Djarin’s future. The teaser quickly drew attention online, with viewers dissecting its wording and tone for possible clues about the Mandalorian’s fate.
Fans think Din Djarin might die in The Mandalorian and Grogu
A new promotional post for The Mandalorian & Grogu has fueled online speculation about Din Djarin’s fate. The official Star Wars Japan account posted a translated message marking 200 days until the film’s release, describing it as “a new story of love and loss” set “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.” The film will premiere in theaters on May 22, 2026, marking Star Wars’ return to cinemas after seven years.
The phrase “love and loss” led many fans on X (formerly Twitter) to question whether Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin may die in the upcoming movie. One user reacted (translated), “What’s ‘loss’? If it’s something like those things that just flashed through my mind, I absolutely don’t want that.”
Another wrote, “Tragedy doesn’t suit the Din father and son [story] at all.”
The discussion quickly spread across fan accounts, including The Book of Din Grogu, which noted, “Looks like Star Wars Japan knows something we don’t.”
Pascal’s Star Wars involvement has appeared to lessen amid his growing Hollywood commitments. The actor has led The Mandalorian series since 2019, but his increasingly busy schedule has caused some fans to believe he might step away from the role.
Directed by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian & Grogu follows Din Djarin and Grogu as they are assigned by the New Republic to track a shadowy Imperial warlord after the fall of the Empire. Pascal stars alongside Jeremy Allen White, Sigourney Weaver, and Jonny Coyne. While the “loss” reference prompted fan concern, neither Lucasfilm nor Pascal has commented on any character deaths in the film. The Mandalorian & Grogu will be the first Star Wars theatrical release in over six years.
